Old Fashioned CHOCOLATE SAUCE:

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1- (1 ounce) unsweetened chocolate square
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup half-and-half cream
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  1. Melt butter and chocolate together in heavy sauce pan or skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sugar, cream and corn syrup. Stir well. Continue stirring until mixture comes to a boil. Boil 1-1/2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and stir well.
  4. Cool for 10-15 minutes. Pour into a 1 pint mason jar or other airtight container and store in refrigerator until ready to use.
  5. If chocolate sauce is too thick. Add very hot tap water to a large bowl. Add mason jar to hot water for 5-10 minutes or until chocolate sauce is pliable.
  6. Makes 1-3/4 cups.
