Kara chutney is a popular tomato based South Indian chutney which goes well with idli, dosas, uttapam, vadas, appams etc. It has a rich and thick consistency and provides the best contrast with rice and dal based snacks.   • Urad dal - 2 tbsp
  • Chopped onion - 1 medium
  • Dry red chilli - 3
  • Refined oil - 4 tbsp
  • Soaked tamarind
  • Chana dal - 1.5 tbsp
  • Curry leaves - 10-12
  • Chopped tomato - 2 large
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic cloves - 4-5 cloves
  • Salt as per taste
