Coconut Chutney For Idli, Dosa | South Indian Chutney Recipe

Coconut chutney- South Indian style. This is an ubliquitous and omni-present white chutney served as an accompaniment with most South Indian snacks and meals like dosa, idli, vada, uttapam, pongal, pakodas etc. As the name suggests it is made of grated coconut and dekicate South Indian lentils and spices and tempered with curry leaves and white oil. Ingredients:

  • Hing - 1/4 th tsp
  • Chopped ginger - 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal / biulir dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 10-12 pcs
  • Refined oil - 2 tbsp
  • Salt as per taste
  • Roasted chana dal - 2 tbsp
  • Whole green chillies - 2-3 pcs
  • Dry red chilli - 2 pcs
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Tamarind - 1/2 tsp
  • Roasted peanuts - 1 tbsp
  • Coconut - 150 gms (1.5 cups)
