Rui/Rohu or Labeo Rohita is the most commonly consumed fresh water fish in Bengal. The Rui Kalia is a very common and popular item served on almost all auspicious occasions. This is a spicy curry that will make your taste buds tingle. Fresh fish pieces are lightly marinated, fried and placed in a mouthwatering gravy and goes well will plain rice/polau. Ingredients:

  • Rohu Fish/Rui mach - 4 pcs
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt as per taste
  • cloves - 3-4
  • Mustard oil - 5-6 tbsp
  • Whole green chillies - 4 -5 pcs
  • Garam masala powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Cashew nuts - 10 gms
  • cinamon stick - 1/2 inch
  • cardamoms - 3
  • whole garam masala
  • Coriander powder - 1/4 th tsp
  • Curd - 2 tbsp
  • chopped onion - 1 medium onion
  • Sugar - 1/4 th tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1/4 th tsp
  • Chopped tomato - 1 small
  • Onion paste - 1 small onion
  • Cumin seeds - 1/4 th tsp
  • Bay leaves - 3-4 small sized
  • Ghee - 1/4 th tsp (optional)
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
