Boal Mach or Wallago catfish or Helicopter Catfish is a sweetwater fish native to South and South East Asia. It is referred to as the Manipuri Sareng, the Bengal Boal, the Sylheti Gual or the Malaysian and Indonesian Tapah. It belongs to the catfish family. The Kalia or the spicy curry of this fishwhich is unique to Bengal makes for an extremely tasty and flavour packed fish preparation which goes well with steamed rice. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • Cardamoms - 3
  • Cloves - 3
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • Mustard oil - 4-5 tbsp
  • Green chillies - 3
  • Cinamon stick - 2 inch
  • Garam masala powder - 1/4 th tsp
  • chopped garlic - 6-7 cloves
  • Boal fish - 2 pcs
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Chopped ginger 1 tsp
  • Bay leaf - 2
  • Chopped onion - 1 large
