CARAMEL BARS | How to Make Caramel Bars ala Max’s
These caramel bars are very chewy and has that unique caramel flavor. It bakes with a thin crust which adds texture and crunch together with the added cashew nuts which adds more flavor. If you have tried and loved Max’s caramel bars, you might also love this recipe!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup cashew nuts (reserve half cup for toppings)
- 1 cup powdered milk
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 can (387g) condensed milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup sugar
- 6 egg yolks
- 1 ½ cups softened butter
• Bake at 180C for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown
• Let it cool completely before slicing
• Crust on top softens as it cools and absorbs moisture
• You can also bake it in a 9x12 rectangular pan for thinner caramel bars. Use the same 8x8 square pan if you like it thicker. *Baking time may vary
• This recipe makes 16 thick bars (baked in 8x8 pan) or 24 thin bars (baked in 9x12 pan)
