Stik-O Checkerboard Birthday Cake

~Chocolate cake and Vanilla cake filled and covered with chocolate ganache topped with Flat Tops Chocolates and Stik-O Border~

Ingredients:

Chocolate Ganache:

  • 500g dark compound chocolate
  • 250mL all purpose cream

Simple Syrup:

  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

*Boil them together until sugar is dissolved and cool completely

Vanilla Cake Recipe:

  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  1. Cream together butter and sugar. Add the eggs one at a time and the vanilla
  2. Sift together the dry ingredients. Add one third portion to the butter-sugar mixture and mix. Add half of the milk and mix again
  3. Repeat until all ingredients are well incorporated. Avoid overmixing
  4. Pour over two 8-inch round pans

lined with parchment and bake in a preheated oven at 180C for 25-30 minutes and cool completely
