How to cover a cake and simple decoration with sugar pearls without any special equipment. This is the fondant covering part of my video 'How to make a cake from scratch and cover with fondant.
You will need:
- buttercream,
- rolling pin,
- sugar pearls,
- knife (pallet or non serrated) and a zip lock or piping bag.
- icing sugar or cornflour,
- white veg fat like Trex (in the UK),
- 700g icing for a 7 inch cake,
This is a great idea for an easy celebration cake. Please do try it!!
Tips - if you get air bubbles in your icing, piece with a pin and roll it out with your rolling pin. Knead your icing for at least 5 mins until soft and pliable. If you rush that step, you will have cracks and lines once you put the icing on the cake.
