CHAMPURADO WITH GATA:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar (add more as preferred) ___ 12
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder, unsweetened ___ 20
  • 1 1/2 cups pure coconut milk (purong piga) ___ 30
  • 1/2 kg (500g) malagkit na bigas (glutinous rice) ___ 40
  • 3 liters (12 cups) water, add more as needed
  • Evaporated milk or full cream milk ___ 27

Total = 129 pesos

*Adding sugar while cooking is completely optional. You can add on each serving insteadso sweetness can be adjusted according to liking

*You can also add more gata or coconut milk up to 3 cups in total to make it more tasty and creamy

* I'm using Bensdorp MR cocoa powder, unsweetened. Alkalized or dutche processed cocoa powder is best to use. You can also use sweetened cocoa powder and ajdust sugar according to preferred sweetness

*You can serve it hot or chilled

*It is also usually served with tuyo (salted dried fish), yum!
