Basa Fish Fillet Curry

Ingredients:

  • Salt to taste
  • 2 whole Dried red chillies
  • 1/4th tsp turmeric power
  • 3 green chillies slit into halves lengthwise
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp kashmiri Red chilli powder
  • 250 gms Basa Fish Fillet cut into pieces
  • 1 tbsp ginger juliens
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh green coriander
  • Mustard oil to shallow fry
  • 1 tbsp mustard paste
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tomato sliced

For marination:

  • 1 tsp each of red chilli powder, salt, Turmeric Powder and lime juice

Method:

  1. Marinate fish with marination Ingredients for 20 mins
  2. Take out from refrigerator, heat oil and shallow fish from both sides till light brown, remove on tissue
  3. In same oil, add fenugreek seeds, Mustard seeds and Cumin seeds. Once they stop crackling, add red chillies. Cook for a few seconds and add onion. Fry till light brown
  4. Add mustard paste and rest of the Ingredients and spices except tomatoes, kashmiri Red chilli powder and salt. Cook for 3-4 mins stirring continuously
  5. Add tomato, salt and kashmiri Red chilli powder, cook till oil separate. Add 1 to 1 1/2 Cup water, let it boil and add fried fish. Cook for 5 mins.
  6. Transfer to a bowl, garnish with finely chopped fresh green coriander, and serve with rice.
