This is a simple recipe for easy Turkey and Cheese Dog Treats. They're dog biscuits made with human ingredients so you know what you're feeding your dog.
It only takes about 10 minutes to make the dough.
If you use cutters, it'll take another 10 -15 minutes to cut all of your shapes; if you use a pizza cutter to cut squares/rectangles, it'll take you 3 minutes!
They're easy and dogs love them.
N.B. You can use almond milk/soya milk as alternatives. Extra mature cheddar has pretty much no lactose in. You can use brown flour instead of white.
Give them a go. You'll get 100 treats from this recipe.
You will need:
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/3 cup turkey (v small bits)
- 1/3 cup margarine
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 stock cube
- 1 cup grated cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3.5 cups strong flour (plain/all purpose)
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 egg
Method:
- mix butter/marg, oats, hot water and stock cube until smooth
- add all other ingredients one at a time except the flour
- add the flour a little at a time until a non sticky dough is formed
- roll out on a clean surface dusted with extra flour
- cut even sized pieces using shape cutter or pizza cutter
- bake in a pre-heated oven at 160 fan 180 non fan or gas mark 4 for 25-40 minutes until very firm
- once cool, store at room temp in a container for up to 2 weeks.
