~Red Velvet Whoopie Pies (Heart Shaped Whoopie Pies)~

Red velvet cookie cakes sandwiched together and filled with cream cheese filling. These whoopie pies are so lovely in their heart shape with pink sprinkles! Soft and creamy with a kiss of cocoa ?

Ingredients:

CREAM CHEESE FILLING:

    (Note: You can use only half of this recipe and that should fit to fill one batch of the cake batter. You can also replace half of the butter with vegetable shortening to make the filling more stiff and stable)

    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 1 cup (225g) softened butter, unsalted
    • 2 bars (450g) cream cheese, softened
    • 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted

    CAKE BATTER:

    • 1 tsp baking powder
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
    • 2 ⅓ cups all purpose flour
    • ¼ tsp salt
    • 1 ½ tbsp liquid red food color (you can also use gel food color adding a little at a time until preferred depth of color is achieved)
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 1 cup milk (fresh milk)
    • 1 medium egg
    • ½ tbsp vinegar (any white plain vinegar)
    • 1 cup light brown sugar
    • 1 stick (113g) softened butter, unsalted

    *pink sprinkles (optional)

    *Bake in a preheated oven at 180C for 8 minutes or until springs back when pressed

    *makes 22pcs of whoopie pies (44 individual hearts)
