ROYAL ICING:

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 4 cups powder sugar
  1. In medium mixing bowl add egg white and lemon juice...beat until frothy...about 40 seconds to 1 minute.
  2. Slowly add powder sugar. Keep sides of bowl scraped down. Beat on medium speed for 4-6 minutes. Royal icing will be thick creamy and smooth. Add water (a small about at a time) to thin Royal Icing if needed.
  3. Decorate cookies as desired. Allow Royal frosting 12-24 hours to dry or harden.
  4. Keep royal icing covered while not using.
  5. Store icing, covered well, in refrigerator for 2 days.
