Step by step recipe of making eggless whole wheat burger buns. Made with 100% whole wheat, these soft and fluffy burger buns are very easy to make at home.

Ingredients:

  • Whole wheat flour - 2 cups (230 g)
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Instant yeast - 1and 1/4 tsp (if using dry active yeast use - 1 tbsp)
  • Vinegar - 1 tbsp or lemon juice of 1 pc
  • Oil - 1/4 cup
  • Milk - 230 ml
  • Sugar - 2 tbsp

Instructions:

  1. First, to make buttermilk, take a cup of milk, and add vinegar to it. Let it rest for a few minutes for the curdling process.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add whole wheat flour, yeast, sugar, salt, oil, and prepared buttermilk. Mix well.
  3. Dust a flat surface with flour and knead your dough on it for 5 minutes.
  4. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl. Cover and let it rest for 2 hours to proof.
  5. After 2 hours, punch the dough and knead for another 2 minutes.
  6. Divide the dough into equal round parts. Cover and rest for 10 minutes.
  7. In the meantime, preheat your over to 200 degrees C (390 F) for 10 to 15 minutes.
  8. Apply milk and put sesame seeds on top of buns. And bake it for 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven.
  9. Soft and spongy burger buns are ready to eat.
