Spicy Chicken mince and Peas Gravy

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp crushed ginger
  • 1/3rd tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 2-3 Cloves
  • 2 medium sized onions sliced
  • 1/4th tsp asafoetida
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 7-8 black peppercorns
  • 1 tsp kashmiri Red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 2 green cardamoms
  • 250 gms Chicken Mince
  • 1" piece of cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp crushed garlic
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Clarified butter (ghee)
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 3 medium sized tomatoes finely chopped
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 Cup shelled peas
  • 3-4 green chillies finely chopped
  • Coriander powder 1 1/4th tsp

Method:

  1. Heat ghee in a pan/ wok, drop in whole spices and let them crackle. Once they stop crackling, add onions and a pinch of Salt to caramalize. Cook till pink then add crushed ginger, garlic and green chillies.
  2. Once onions become golden brown, add tomatoes, Peas a little water and all powdered spices except garam masala. Cover and cook on medium low flame till tomatoes are soft and mushy.
  3. Turn flame to medium high, add chicken mince, Roasted Cumin powder, lemon juice and garam masala, mix well. Cover and cook for 5-6 mins, stirring Occasionally. Once the mince is nicely sautéed, uncover, add water For desired consistency of gravy, cover again and cook for 10-12 mins, or till chicken is done. You can give it 2-3 whistles in pressure cooker also after it is sautéed. Or, you can saute directly in pressure cooker instead of using two different utensils.
  4. After it is cooked and tender, Dish our, serve with tandoori Roti, Naan, or boiled rice
