CHICKEN FRIED STEAK - How to make CHICKEN FRIED STEAK W/ CREAM GRAVY Recipe

CHICKEN FRIED STEAK

(Serves 2)

  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4-1 LB Cubed STEAK (2-3 steaks)
  1. Add 1 cup of flour Into a shallow dish. Set aside.
  2. Whisk buttermilk, egg, hot sauce, baking powder, baking soda, pepper and salt together. Add mixture into another shallow dish. Set aside.
  3. Dredge each Cubed Steak into flour. Shake off excess flour. Dip floured Steak into buttermilk mixture (coating well) and then coat again into the flour. Rest coated steaks for 5 minutes before frying.
  4. Add oil to a 12-inch skillet, over medium heat. Test oil, by dipping edge of coated steak into oil to see a sizzle, before frying steaks. Fry each steak 3-4 minutes on each side and is golden in color. Keep steaks warm by covering with foil.

CREAM GRAVY:

  • 1 tablespoon reserved oil
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • salt & pepper to taste

Using the same skillet. Pour oil into bowl. Return 1 tablespoon of oil back into skillet, over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of flour to oil. Whisk and cook for 1 minute. Slowly pour milk into pan. Whisk until gravy in slightly thickened and bubbly. Flavor with salt & pepper.

TIPS: If gravy is too thick... whisk in a little more milk or water. If gravy is too thin...continue to cook gravy until desired thickness.
