Mincemeat Tart - Basically, it's a large mince pie and easy to make!

It's actually really simple and probably easier than making 12 mince pies. Make the base once, add the filling in one go and criss cross a few lines of pastry - simple! You can buy pre made SWEET pastry to make these but it's really simple to whip up some home made. Click on my mince pies video for a super quick tutorial.

You will need:

  • I recipe sweet short crust pastry
  • 2 tablespoons Sherry (or other alcohol)
  • 50g glacé cherries
  • 1 large apple (remove the skin before grating)
  • 400g jar mincemeat -fruit not meat )
  • 10-50g other dried fruit

Method:

  1. Knead then roll out your pastry to around 3 mm thick
  2. Place in a buttered non stick tart/flan tin
  3. Push into the edges and remove the excess
  4. Poke a few tin holes in the bottom
  5. Put your mincemeat/cherry/apple mixture in the pastry case and spread out evenly - the pastry will shrink so do not over fill!
  6. Re-roll the scraps of pastry and cut it into strips
  7. Lattice over the top of the tart
  8. Refrigerate the tart for at least 30 minute the place in a preheated 160c fan/180c or 350f.
  9. The tart cooks in 30-35 minutes
  10. Leave to cool for 10/15 minutes before serving
  11. Can be eaten hot or cold

Enjoy your meal!
