OLD-FASHIONED BUTTERMILK PIE
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- 1-1/2 cup of sugar
- 1-9-inch pie crust, unbaked
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup whole buttermilk
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- In a small mixing bowl; whisk together sugar and flour. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl; whisk together eggs, salt, and nutmeg. Add buttermilk, butter, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well blended and smooth in texture.
- Place pie pan onto a shallow baking pan. Using a fork make holes into the unbaked pie dough. Add Buttermilk Pie filling.
- Bake in oven for 1 hour, or until toothpick inserted into middle comes out clean.
- Cool for 2 hours, before slicing for serving.
TIPS: Store in an airtight container, up to 3 days, in the refrigerator!!
