Tadka Bread

Ingredients:

  • 5-6 brown bread Slices
  • 1/2 tsp chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 12-15 Curry Leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 large green chilli finely chopped
  • 1 large sized onion finely chopped
  • 1 large sized Tomato finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric power
  • 1/4th capsicum finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp split Bengal Gram (channa daal) Soaked overnight
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh green coriander
  • 1 tbsp black split Gram without husk (dhuli urad daal ) Soaked overnight

Method:

  1. Toast bread Slices in a toaster till light brown. Cut each slice into 9 pieces, keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, drop in mustard and Cumin seeds, let them crackle. Once crackling stops, add green chilli, stir, add curry leaves, stir, then add the lentils. Stir, then cover and cook on low flame for 2-3 mins.
  3. Remove cover, add onion, on medium flame sauté till light brown. Add capsicum, cover and cook for a couple of minutes. Remove cover, add tomatoes, salt and chilli flakes. Mix well, cover and cook till tomatoes are mushy.
  4. Remove cover, add turmeric and mix well. Add fresh green coriander and bread pieces, mix well. Plate out and serve hot with sauce, green chutney, or as is.
