Garlic bread sticks

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp mixed herbs
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Sesame seeds
  • 175 ml warm water
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 4-5 garlic cloves chopped into thin slices
  • 1 tsp dry active yeast

Method:

  1. Add yeast and sugar in warm water and mix so that all sugar and yeast is dissolved. Keep it aside covered for 5 - 10 minutes till froth starts forming. If yeast is good and activates, the froth will Form. If it is dead, then no froth will Form and it cannot be used
  2. Mix Salt and garlic powder/ grated garlic in the all purpose flour, and mix well with the yeast water. It will remain a little sticks. Cover with a plastic wrap/ cling wrap, and keep Aside for 3-4 hrs
  3. After 3-4 hrs, the dough will rise to double its size. On a chopping board, dust some all purpose flour, drop the dough on it, sprinkle half of the chopped garlic, dust with some more flour and turn and fold the dough a little so it gets knocked down. Put parchment paper in the bread tin, spread the dough on it, cover again with plastic wrap, and keep Aside for 1/2 an hr.
  4. Preheat oven for 10 mins, spread the butter, remaining garlic slices, sesame seeds and mixed herbs on the dough, keep in oven to bake for 40 mins at 200°.
  5. Remove from oven, keep on the kitchen top till it cools, turn the tin upside down on a tray to take out the bread. Cut into slices, and serve with Spread, dip, stir fried vegetables or au gratin.
