The Bengali harvesting season culminates with Poush Parbon and to celebrate it, we make pithes and pulis im every traditional Bengali household. These are desert delicacies. With this day around the corner, it is time for us to put up this recipe of Gokul pithe- a pithe made with coconut and jaggery infused filling encrusted in a golden shell and then saturated with syrup= creating an explosion of sweet flavours and various textures of the ingredients. Ingredients:

  • Ghee - little bit
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 coconut
  • Vegetable oil - 2 cup (for deep frying)
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Rice flour - 1 tbsp
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Date palm jaggery - 3 tbsp
  • all purpose flour/maida - 2 tbsp
  • Khoya - 1/2 cup
  • Baking powder - 1/4th tsp
