When I thought about which dish I would present on the blog this week, I actually had a completely different recipe in mind. I wanted to quickly after work in the supermarket across the ingredients shop. Since I had only 10 minutes until my tram drove I had to hurry.

In the shop I found out that I did not find any ingredients I needed quickly. Instead, I left the store with a pack of smoked salmon, which I quickly grabbed.

😕

It should not be there …

With my pack of smoked salmon, I went home and thought about what I could do with it.

I then decided to make potato rosti with a quick horseradish cream. Both are perfect with smoked salmon.

The potato rösti

So I first made the potato rösti. So far, I've never made potato rosti myself. I really like it, so it was time to test it myself.

Potato rösti basically consist of raw, grated potatoes, grated onion and a few spices.

The rubbing of an onion is admittedly a very tearful process. So if you have a scuba mask lying around somewhere, then I recommend taking a quick dip during the rasp.

For roasting, simply shape the rösti into the desired size with a tablespoon. If you have a small pan, you can also fill the whole pan with the Rösti dough. So you get a nice round big potato rösti out instead of many little ones.

If you plan the meal as a main meal, then I recommend you to plan 1 to 1 1/2 large potatoes per person. But I also like the recipe as a starter or part of a buffet.

To serve, you should sprinkle some dill over the dish. Dill goes perfectly with the cream and salmon.
