Grilled Cheese with Blackberries – Quick Recipes from my Kitchen
Recently, the 3rd Food Market took place in the market hall in Dresden. Also this time we were there again and have let us spoil culinary. It was significantly less crowded than the second market and there was a small but fine outdoor area.
A booth lured u.a. with grilled cheese, which gave me the idea to make grilled cheese again. When I lived in Canada some time ago, this dish was often used as a lunch snack. However, Canadians often prepare this delicious cheese sandwich with this weird Scheibletten cheese, where each piece of cheese is individually packaged. Do you know what I mean? Can this really be called cheese? 😉
One thing was clear – Grilled Cheese was needed. 🙂 But only stuffed with cheese was too boring for me. So I browsed the Internet for a bit, thought about it and then came up with an idea.
I boiled fresh blackberries for a short time with balsamic vinegar and a little sugar to make a kind of jam. Then I combined the blackberry jam with the cheese and some basil between two slices of bread and fried golden brown.
Sounds unusual? Maybe, but cheese and fruit just go well together.
As a loaf of bread, I have a home-baked bread from the miracle dough of Steven Paul's book – “target =” _ blank “rel =” noopener noreferrer “> On hand* -used. Who is interested in the recipe, it can u.a. here on the blog Have a nice day read. But it also works a normal white or toast bread.
A Grilled Cheese is very easy to prepare and super delicious. Granted it's not for the slim line, but still a treat. Tomorrow there will be a salad. 😉
Grilled cheese with basil and blackberries
An unusual combination, but the taste is sensational! Try it.
Cooking time:15 minutes
Total time:25 minutes
2 Handful of blackberries
2 EL balsamic
2 EL sugar
75 g Comté (or other favorite cheese)
4 Slices of white bread
2 Branches of basil
4 EL butter
First, wash the blackberries thoroughly and dab them dry.
Put the berries together with the balsamic and the sugar in a small pot.
Heat the ingredients until lightly simmer. With a fork you crush the blackberries a bit. Let the blackberry mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.
The mixture is then poured through a sieve and lightly squeezed with a fork. (The liquid, the syrup, should be collected, which you can use for other purposes, such as pancakes or ice cream.)
Grate the cheese with the grater.
Now you take two slices of bread each. One side sweeps her with the blackberry mixture and about 5 basil leaves. Then you give half of the cheese on top.
Fold the bread and spread it on the outside with plenty of butter.
Put a pan on the stove and place the bread in the pan, with the butter side down, over medium heat.
After about 4 minutes, when the bread has a golden yellow color, you turn it to the other side. Roast these for about 4 minutes.
